FCC vs IBEJU CC Preview on Saturday 28th JANUARY 2012
Fri, Jan 27th 2012, 08:23
Both teams come into the game on the back of defeats but FCC will take solace in the fact that they lost to the league leaders and are still within touching distance of a second place finish in the league.
Ibeju will have to pick themselves up from the disappointment of losing a game they could so easily have won against FGCWarri, needing to win all their remaining matches while hoping that other results don't go against them in order to have any hope of staying in the top division, Ibeju know that this is their last chance to turn things around. They will however draw some level of optimism from their fielding performance against FGCWarri in which they had the Warri side at 5 for 57 at some point in the game, their batting could however still prove to be their bane.
FCC skipper Dele Oshodi has expressed his delight at his team's league position, having been tipped at the start of the season to struggle at the bottom of the table, He will see this as an opportunity to consolidate on their position and after putting up a distinctly average performance against BRFCC last time out, FCC will want to prove their critics wrong
Key Performers
IBEJU
Joshua Ayannaike - The young opening batsman, wicket keeper and vice captain continues to be the shining light of Ibeju's batting, consistently putting up top quality performances.
Seun Garuba - Back in the side after a spell on the sidelines, the erratic paceman seems to be back to his best after a devastating 5 over spell last time out
Usman Yusuf
FCC
Peter Ananya - 3 wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs and 27 runs off 52 balls against BRF says it all. The Ghanaian international is key to FCC's game plan and when he is successful, his team wins
Dolapo Gafar - The FCC vice captain, back in the side this year is the kind of batsman that can give you a great start on his day with his attacking style of play. It'll be interesting to see how he fares agains the Ibeju opening bowlers
Segun and Tope Olayinka
Verdict - Ibeju have proved they have what it takes to make early inroads into batting lineups, its their ability to finish up teams that is in doubt. We'll also wait to find out if there will be a change of strategy if they win the toss.
FCC will want to rely on their experience and current good form to take them through.
Its a difficult game to call but I believe we have a very entertaining game of cricket in prospect.
