ILCC 1 TRADE TACKLES WITH GCIOBCC IN "EL CLASSICO" SUPER 4 CRICKET FINAL

Cricket enthusiasts in Nigeria and the world over are in for serious batting and bowling extravaganza as the Iris Smart Technologies super 4 final pitches Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club 1 against a resurgent Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club.

ILCC have played 12 matches this season and are yet to lose a match as they light up the prestigious Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval on Sunday April 18th 2010.

Most people who love the gentleman's game in Nigeria have tagged this heavyweight clash "El Classico" of Cricket which I feel any right thinking human being who follows the game week in week out would agree. Two of the finest teams in Club Cricket Committee that both took apart their different opponents in the semi-final are locking horns. Having painted a picture of what to expect this weekend let's now go to the key areas of a Cricket match which includes Battling, Bowling, Fielding and Wicket keeping.

ILCC during the regular season (which they won without losing a game) defeated GCIOBCC on the 14th of November 2009 and 9th of January 2010 by 5 runs and 7 wickets respectively. Here are some players to watch

Players to watch from Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club are 

BEJIDE JIDE (Top on the CCC Batting chart with the total of 238 runs in 7 innings and average of 59.50) 

ENDURANCE OFEM (Top on the CCC All rounder chart with the total of 234 runs in 7 innings and average 46.80 and bowl 38 overs for 133 runs and 10 wickets)

AKOLADE SAHEED (2nd on the bowling chat, Bowl 61 overs for 147 runs, Average of 8.65, Economy rate of 2.41 and total of 17 wickets)

SEAN PHILLIPS (3rd on the batting chart and well experience player & coach from South Africa)

Players to watch from Government College Ibadan Old boys Cricket Club are 

OLUWASEUN ODEKU (Captain of the team, bowled 47.4 overs for 190 runs, Average of 19.00, Economy rate of 3.99 and total of 10 wickets)

ONWUZULIKE OSITA (Score of 189 runs with the bat in 7 innings and average of 31.50 and took 4 catches and 2 run out, a very decent fielder)

ADEGBOLA KUNLE (Very Good All rounder, score 81 runs in 5 innings and an average of 20.25 with the bat and bowled 35.4 overs for 146 runs and 5 wickets)

ITEOGU CHIBIKE (Left arm pace bowler and with is left arm, he should trouble the ILCC batmen)

GCIOB CC. Captain: Oluwaseun Odeku, Atoloye Tayo, Gill Ramit, Olayinka Segun, Adegbola Kunle, Onwuzulike Chimezie, Onwuzulike Osita, Iteogu Osita, Adeoye Wale, Femi John and Ukpong Okon.

Following statistics of both clubs during the 2009/2010 Club Cricket Committee League Season it appears that  the favourites would be ILCC 1, but the saying in Cricket is that sport is like biscuit which no one can break into two equal halves.
